VIAIR Bike’s Take on Tubeless Tire Pressures

There are several different "tire pressure by rider weight" charts available – most of them have very rigid, prescriptive recommendations that can send new and avid riders spiraling into a deep, dark rabbit hole. While factors like rider weight, suspension settings and tire construction do matter, we like to distill things to a simpler formula - the great quest to finding your tire pressure should be about how and where you ride.

We believe in larger tires at lower PSI, and we think it’s important to experiment with a wide range of pressures. Dramatic changes may affect the feel of the ride, but they can also yield more grip, comfort & better rolling resistance. So, what do you need to get started? Your bike, an accurate inflator (like the Recon Mini), and an open mind. Our chart gives you baseline pressures for your weight and style of riding on 700C wheels. Start with the baseline PSI, go for a ride and experiment within a 10% range (up or down) of that number to find the right feel. Ride the same sections at different pressures, feel the terrain thru your hands and feet, that's what we love about riding!
